Forget Me Not Annie is a free first person horror puzzle game with an atmosphere that fans of the popular Amnesia will surely enjoy. This is another game designed by students (Brandon Dolinski and his team) and those tend to be both original and of high quality. Using the Unreal Engine, the graphics are the first thing that jumps to the eye, being incredibly moody and unsettling.
The story is capable of giving you chills. Playing as the unfortunate 15 year-old Annie, we have to solve several puzzles in a twisted psychiatric hospital (or is it?), trying to make sense of the strange happenings and apparitions while keeping sane and escaping the doctor’s intentions. Annie has the help of Howard the Bear, a supposedly fluffy creature that helps her to move around. Annie isn’t a normal girl – in fact she has the power of telekinesis and the ability to swap locations with Howard. The replacement mechanic is similar to what we’ve seen in other free PC games such as There and Back, with the difference that instead of a shadow, we summon Howard and use telekinesis to place him where we want to go.
Telekinesis is Annie’s tool of choice, being used to connect generators and to grab lanterns and other objects. Forget Me Not Annie may not be too long but even includes some cool achievements (press ESC to see) to make us explore the rooms in detail. Her extraordinary skills will bring us to a satisfying conclusion, one that will shed some light on Howard and Annie’s terrible past.
Forget Me Not Annie is a freeware PC game that won’t take long to finish (little over an hour if we don’t get stuck in any puzzle) but is completely worth the time. The team is working on improving the game, so much that after the ending we still get to explore a piece of another level, only without any goal or progression. Amnesia fans shouldn’t overlook this amazing game.
