Blaynix

Fans of frantic vertical scrolling shoot’em ups have to check Blaynix, a very commendable entry in the genre created by a Japanese developer. As free as PC games come, Blaynix demands a high level of reflexes from the player, offering a difficult challenge and a perfect one for those aiming for the higher scores.

The mechanics are familiar and sound, with a small press of the fire button unleashing the normal laser, while a longer press activates a devastating attack, something that will come in handy for the larger bosses. There’s also a special attack to clean the screen of enemies.

Although visuals are far from remarkable they are very pleasing to look at – and battle in – and there’s a nice sense of diversity in the environments and enemies.
