Stargunner

Apogee Software is a name that will be fondly remembered by old-school gamers, since from it derived the software studio 3D Realms that created the legendary Duke Nukem series. But other classic games originated there, including the free shoot’em up StarGunner.

Originally launched in 1996, StarGunner has been released as a freeware game in 2005 in the 3D Realms website. However, a free program is required to run this game in today’s machines: DOS BOX.

StarGunner is a side-scroller shooter featuring all the elements that turned the genre into a massive hit during the 80’s and 90’s: power-ups, 34 different levels in varied settings, several devastating weapons and upgrades for our spacecraft.
